Not gonna deny it…was all set to bash Kim Kardashian for posting yet another nude selfie on the cyber webs earlier this week. But after further consideration, decided this is all the attention I want to devote to the matter:
That.
Right. There.
Seriously. That’s it.
Now, can we move on and talk about things that really matter? Can we talk about the lie we’ve been fed that tells us that we can do anything we want as long as we’re not “hurting anybody.” The lie that says all that matters is that we are comfortable in our own skin. The lie that says life is ours for the taking.
What if we are hurting other people – simply by what we choose to share, express, bare? Hurting them by contributing to the thoughts in their head? The subtle beliefs we are helping to shape? The comparison game we are encouraging?
Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble,
it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck
and to be thrown into the sea.
Mark 9:42
What if we’re not meant to be comfortable in our own skin? What if that skin is miserably and hopelessly flawed left to itself? What if the very reason for the discomfort is so that we will seek to remedy the disconnect between what feels right in our flesh and what is right in our spirit? What if this cannot be made right without a Help much greater than ourselves?
You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self,
which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;
to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self,
created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
Eph. 4:22-24
And what if we are not supposed to take from life but instead add to it? What if, despite all our earthly efforts, the greatest fame, fortune, possessions, adventure, education, etc. that we can ever accumulate means NOTHING in the end? If we haven’t positively contributed to the lives of our fellow human beings, how can any of that possibly matter? If we’ve lived our short existence on planet earth with only ourselves in mind, have we really accomplished much at all?
I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless,
a chasing after the wind.
Ecc. 1:14
Much to think about.
Selah – and live well!
They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things
rather than the Creator–who is forever praised. Amen.
Romans 1:25
